How stable are your Datamarine Depth Readings?

How stable are the depth readings, Are they rock solid? I am sure my transducer face needs cleaning, but I only recall the numbers being stable white at the dock. While sailing they are all over the place. Has everyone else experienced the same problem?I guess if it's time to upgrade, I want to be sure I am getting the best depth reading possible.I have a Corinthian S200DL. Thanks,Bill

We've improved our stability

We had a similar problem (also w/ an older datamarine sounder). The owner's manual led us to changing the sensitivity (I don't have the manual with me now, but I think it's actually called a gain adjustment) and the response improved dramatically. Prior to that readings were very erratic. If I remember correctly, I turned the gain way DOWN (less sensitivity) but just experiment and see what you get.Regards,Gary Kunkel
