How should I clean mildew from white hoses

The vent hose and other hoses (especially in the bilge) have mildew. What is the best way to clean them? Thanks RREgge S/V Allie Kat

Power washer and detergent with a LITTLE bleach

Simple green and a little bleach water.

Russell: I would start with Simple and water in a spray bottle. This stuff really does clean good. When you are cleaned up, spray with a bleach

Tylex

will clean and kill the mildew from anywhere on the boat. It's the bleach that makes it work.

You don't want to use anything as strong as Tilex

in the bilge. Chlorine is HIGHLY corrosive, and Tilex is much stronger than bleach...it'll damage the rubber parts in your bilge pumps and anything else it gets on. That's why I recommended detergent with a LITTLE bleach added.
