Looked for previous posts for answer to this question but no luck. PO
tied light line to anchor chain link then tied other end to cleat in chain
locker. In addition looped chain around cleat. What do others use to
secure chain? Think there are some chain stoppers that fasten to the
deck but since chain exits locker to immediately connect with anchor
shank doesn't appear to be any room to go that route. Appreciate
any suggestions.

I had the same issue. In the end I put a coated cable around the cleat and a clip on the other end. When my anchor is in the roller the clip attaches to the anchor and the anchor can't be accidently launched. When I go to anchor you pull back on the cable a little and unclip it from the anchor. Then you can launch the anchor without any problems. Not a perfect solution but one that works well for us.

Good luck

(From memory, the boat is new to me and I've only anchored once this season) I have the chain so that a the horn of the chain passes through a link, then the chain is looped around the cleat, then I have a line tied with a cleat hitch so that the chain cannot come off the cleat unless the line is removed first. If I can remember this weekend I'll take some photos.

There are devices you can buy that secure the anchor chain but in my case it eventually bent and would not engage. Either of the two above suggestions is simple and dependable.

I wrap the chain around the windlass and then to the cleat in the locker - seems to work ok. Now I need to figure out how to keep the anchor from rocking back and forth.

I went to tractor supply and got a hitch pin (has a securing clip over the end) and slip it through the anchor and hole in the SS part just under neath the anchor and clip it to the hitch pin-hope that makes sense...

This is how I secure my anchor.

Use velcrow around the anchor shaft to eliminate rattle.

I use to use a hook like Stu shows, until in high , ruff seas coming over bow

knocked the anchor loose.

I installed an anchor stopper on the forward wall of the chain locker, where the chain hangs down from the anchor. In addition, we tie a heavy line through the stem head fitting, and the shackle of the anchor. All in all, very secure and easy to deploy.

Mine has a 5' x 1/4" line tied to the first chain link, I secure it to the small cleat in the anchor locker. I've thought this was sufficient, has anyone had an issue with this setup?
