What can go wrong, will go wrong. Always be prepared. Experience is the best teacher. And here it is, the quintessential sailing nightmare....

Great writing, lousy preparation, funny as hell.

Thanks for the humor. Ray

A Chip off the Old Giles Block?

With a name like Chip Giles the future of this newbie skipper looks, well ......interesting. This guy has real potential! Give him an oceangoing Hunter 26.5 and his next story may be an even bigger cliff hanger than Webb Giles' "Storm Passage". Flying Dutchman

I hope that was nautical fiction...

I thought my ship's log read like a horror story, but compared to yours, it's just a three hour cruise. You have made me feel much better. Thank you.

Wow!!!

That is without a doubt one of the most entertaining "stories" I have ever read. You need to get more exposure----maybe CRUISING WORLD??? We will be going for a month---wherever---next summer, so I'll be sure to pack my sense of humor for whatever may happen. Thanks for sharing.

Many laughs with this one!!!!

I will think of this story throughout the winter months and laugh. No one but myself in this house knows what adventures can take place on a sailing trip. This will keep me warm during the winter months waiting for next season. I'm still laughing as I write this!

Priceless!

But for the sake of God goes...the rest of us? Great story. Mike
