Hi, I have decided to put some bottom paint on my mac 26S. I am going to go with the VC 17 as that seems to be what everyone on this forum recommends. If I plan on putting on 2 coats how much will I need to do that? thanks, Lori

2 quarts will do it

Two quarts will do your 26 with leftovers. If your boat has been in the water for awhile or isn't very new it should take the ablative type paints with no problem. Just clean the bottom and be sure there's no wax on it. Us a roller and or a brush. I'd wear disposable coveralls or very old clothes as these paints don't come out of cloth at all. Paint where you don't care like in the grass because you'll paint up the driveway for sure. Tape off the water line and go for it. steve p.

Two coats, two colours.

I recommend that you paint two coats of anti-fouling, each a different colour. We did our boat with red followed by a blue coat last spring, as recommended by an Interlux rep. Each year I now only have to repaint where the red starts showing through. According to Interlux this is the easiest way for the boat to tell us where the anti-fouling is ablating the fastest.

Great hint Dana

It's always great to hear the simplest of hints, they are real gold. Thanks Dana steve P.
