hello, I am considering have my 9.2a transported from Marathon, FL to Marina del Rey, in L.A.

I am using USHIP.COM to locate a shipper...and they need to know the height and weight...I used the www.sailboatdata.com to get the info, but wanted to get more info from you guys...

the info given to me was, that my boat weighs 9800lbs... is this accurate??? How much should I figure / anticipate for all the stuff on my boat?

what about height? I have a 5' keel and I measured from the waterline.

I listed the boat at 11,000lbs and a height of 11' from bottom of keel to top of bow railing...

of that is wrong, I may have to pay some extra costs... so, please let me know asap...

thanks

bill

btw, I would prefer to sell the boat and avoid paying more money then the boat is worth, but, I am not getting much interest down here in the keys...

I know the boat is worth more then $15k but, Im having problems find any interest in her for any amount of money

I love my boat, and trust her, and know her... but, I would like something a little more roomy inside, and a little more heavy...

There is really no way to know short of weighing her. The hull has likely absorbed some water and if you stuff her full of gear that certainly will have an impact.

I agree about not knowing for sure without weighing. I had my 9.2A shipped 120 miles last September (Oklahoma to Missouri) and the cost was $1

Sorry, didn't get that last reply finished. The cost was $1600 to ship that 120 miles. Can't imagine how much it would cost to ship across the country. I do know my shipper said they have to be trailered the same for short distance or long. There are various charges depending on permits and transport routes. I'm guessing to ship a boat like ours, give or take a thousand lbs. want matter that much.... it's the distance traveled. Good Luck.

i used a website call www.uship.com

i got several bids.. I am also stopping that process as I have sold the boat now...

anyways the low bid was from the #1 sailboat shipper on that site at $6600

the top bid was $9000

big spread but I felt comfortable with the low bid and assume he had lower costs and maybe had a return trip and wasnt going to be drving empty...
