It might cost a number of times the value of your boat to go carbon fiber. Wait until you have a two or three million dollar racing yacht for carbon fiber.

If a carbon mast is important to you, buy one, but do make sure it comes with a sailboat already attached underneath it. It is by far the cheapest way to acquire a carbon mast.
