How many 260's were built??

hi mark, we bought our hunter 260 in october 2003.it would be interesting to know how many are in australia. I think all hunters are made in the states.We would be interested in contacting other hunter 260 owners in Australia.We have just come back from 7 weeks sailing in the Whitsundays and living on board for that time.Pete@Sue

260 HULL NUMBER

Apparently the hull numbers for the 26 start at FOOO1 and run to somewhere near F0729 around 1997 then the 260 is introduced and the hull numbers continue until 2002 were they start new (my assumption is that they started a whole new mold instead of using the one that I guess was modified from the 26) and run to somewhere near F0189 in 2005. So it seems if one has a 260 that is late 2002 or newer it is a made from an entirely different mold than the earlier 260 or 26.Total 260 seems to be around 582.

For the changes were significant and am not sure that the 26 hull shape is exactly the same.Perhaps Hunter may like to comment. Just for interest sake of course!

HULL NUMBER MYSTERY

I believe all 260 were built at the big boat plant in Florida. As far as hull shape, the top mold is definitely different. The bottom mold appears to be shaped differently along the aft quarter with the 260 being a more gradual line to the water. I don't know enough about boat building to know if modifying an already existing mold is practical but I couldn’t think of any other reason why the hull numbers wouldn't be consecutive for the 26 and then start at zero and be consecutive for the 260 . Early 260 are consecutive with the 26 hull numbers.
