How long should be my chain and what size?

We sail a Hunter 49 2010 and i had in mind to put a 200' 7/16 G-4 chain with 150' of line is that sound ok? i already have 60' chain with 100' of line which came with the boat, but the chain 3/8 . should i change for 7/16 or stick with 3/8 G-4 ? We are going off-shore.

I'd tend to stick with what Hunter spec'ed, but that's just me. In addition, do you know if your windlass gypsy is compatible with the larger chain?

On my 44DS we went with 300' 3/8" (G4) and 100' of rope. If I were to do it again I'd do 350' and 150'. Partially depends on where you end up cruising to. Here in Southern CA, its not unusual to find yourself anchoring in 100' of water.
