How Long Should A Holding Tank Last?

The PO installed a DuraCast plastic holding tank in '05 and I replaced what looke like factoty sanitation hose in '08. I seem to have a faint odor in the boat now. How long can a plastic like the DuraCast last before becoming permiated?

Will the warm cloth trick for finding permiated sanitation hose also work on the holding tank?

Your hoses may be bald again if you didn't use trident 101 the warm wet rag will find the permeation on the hoses and the tank but I bet it's your hoses. They are 7 years old
