How long of a moter shaft?

This is the year I am replacing the 5hp Tohatsu that was original equipment on my Hunter 23.5. What is proper shaft length for the kicker on a 23.5? Is anyone using a motor with a 25 inch shaft? Thank You, Al Beattie ElseWhere

I have a 20" Mercury 6 HP on mine there are times when that extra 5" would help keep the prop in the water but remember it is going to stick out that much more when tilted up.

25"

I have a 25" Honda. Works great and rarely pulls the prop out of the water.
