I finally got the water heater out. It was on it's last leg. 1992 said the label. I found a new muffler, hose and after unwrapping the heat tape, a brand new riser elbow with new couplings. Wow. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. I was due for a break. Anyway, I found the muffler wedged between the water heater and wall. It seems that it just lays there. Does it hang from somewhere, or clamps to the floor. The hoses are hard enought I guess it will not move. Your sudgestions.
Now, if I only could stop itching! Let's see, cold shower, talcum powder? That fiberglass is tearing me up.

Wow, still had the original round water heater! When I replaced my square water heater I thought it was original. But once I got it out I could see the round rust markings from the original. A previous owner had to notch that piece of 2x4 that my original muffler was screwed onto. Is that 2x4 still there on your boat? The muffler had a welded on flange that was screwed to it. My new fiberglass muffler is the same size and shape but just lays between that 2x4 and the bulkhead. Nothing holding it except the very sturdy exhaust hose. The picture is of the original muffler but pulled way forward as we were removing it.

P.S. now that I look at some other pictures that 2x4 might be gone. Ed A. installed the new muffler and could have deep sixed it.

Ed,
You are wise beyond your years, Oh Great One.
Indeed, I found a 2x4 screwed to the floor. After removing the wood, I noticed a flat piece of stainless attached with 3 screws to the edge of the wood. Could not figure out what the purpose for it was. Now I realize that the original muffler had a flange and that the 2x4 was screwed to the flange and then the 2x4 was screwed to the floor.
I am thinking of placing 2 stainless footman loop, one on each side of the muffler, left over from the old bimini and running a strap, protected by a piece of header wrap, over the muffler just to secure it.
Thanks again.

Anything to help a fellow cutter owner. Now will that square tank go back through the q-berth opening? And I notice that someone has removed the wallpaper from the inside bulkhead. Will you leave it as plain white fiberglass?

All the bulkheads still have the original wallpaper. I had the Admiral select a color of paint, she chose a soft buttery yellow, and I repainted all the paper. It is well atached except for a couple of spots that I repaired with a hot glue gun. The paint is washable latex and has a sheen to it. Made the boat look 100% better as the original paper was discolored on some places, had greasy fingerprints, etc.
