My '82 Mac 25 is a great boat on inland waters ... but how far have you or someone you know taken one offshore? In other words, I would welcome any good or bad stories about the '25.
My wife and I sailed to the Bahamas in our Mac 25 last summer and are going back next summer. The boat can handle it just fine. You will need to get really creative in organizing storage areas, etc. We added a 60 watt solar panel to charge two batteries and an 18 gallon gas tank. Your boat can make it no problem. In the early '70s old man MacGregor, in an effort to raise interest (and probably also to brag, for he was not known to be modest), offered a prize of $25,000 to the sailor who could turn in the fastest time for a singlehanded trip from Long Beach to Hawaii in a trailerable sailboat under 25 ft.
