You have the wrong boat for that type of adventure...
I have a 26s, and have gone alot of places with it (just got back from 8 days off the northwest gulf coast of fla). They are very good boats for the money and (don't know about the m or x) but the s version has very good sailing characteristics...but it has a niche...lakes and coastal sailing, and, with a good weather window, a sail to the bahamma's or tortugas. I would not want to be out in rough weather for an extended amount of time in my macgregor...but I have heard of a rare few who do... How far to the edge do you want to push your life's journey here... I can see Panama (I think...not too sure of the availability of weather "hiding" holes along the way though) with good weather reports and charted places to hide from inclement weather. Hawaii though!?! I guess we all gotta exit life sometime...you can bet you would have a wild ride...but your throwing some serious dice that your gonna take the exit ramp from life a bit early... Then again, think of the stories you'd have if you survived! Read 'a speck on the sea' then go out in some big weather...that might help your decision making process some!
