I aquired a 24 ft. Bahama Islander and have been readying him for the water-this spring. But I am wondering how he will handle. He has been on a cradle since I got him. I also wonder if the 9 hp Mercury Outboard is enough/too much. I'm quite excited about getting him wet and wonder what I'm in for. I recently joined a Yacht Club to give him a good home on the water. Thanks

Why does your

boat have a masculine pronoun? ;-) Your boat is about the size of an Islander that lived in our marina for a while and her owners were pleased with her on the short chop of the chesapeake bay. My I 30 is undaunted by small craft advisories.

Male name for my boat

Hi Ross, Thanks for the reply. I sure am looking forward to launching and sailing him. I hope he is a forgiving boat. The reason I call him a HE is that I feel male energy as I work on him-strong, powerful and tough. He will have to name himself as we sail together but I hope he lives up the the name I would like-Partonus.

Dave,I have

been told that the reason for giving boats female names is because the rigging costs more than the hull.

Females cost money

Hi Ross, I just got your e-mail about the reason boats are refered to as female. That is funy, but so true. Thanks for the laugh; I wont tell my wife. Dave
