We were having a discussion on how the forums are viewed and read.

I typically hit the "Show posts from all forums, all sites" link in the upper right when you hit New Posts on the drop down menu under Posts. Of course I read looking for content first, all across the board, rather than secondly interest in information.

The New Posts button only gives you posts from the forum you log into, i.e. Hunterowners, Sailboatowners, O'Day etc. The All Posts, all forums, gives you the all the recent threads started and all the repsonses in the past 24 hours. Advantage to this is getting info that may be of interest to any boat not just one specific brand.

How do you typically browse the forums and would you prefer the New Posts to give you all the new posts not just in your forum.

Start the morning with "Hunter Owner" to "Cherubini" to see what my buds are up to. But otherwise to "Forum" and "New Posts". I thought I was seeing all new posts at that point. I just now tried your "Show posts from all forums, all sites" link and nothing changed. I have no complaints or suggestions about things as they are.

For those who want to book mark the "Show posts from all forums, all sites" here's the link:

http://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/recent-f.php?all=1

This link will give you every new post from every forum under the Sailboatowners family of sailing forums. Hunterowners.com, Catalinaowners.com, O'dayowners.com, Sailboatowners.com etc. etc. etc. not just the new posts from the forum you aew logged into at the moment.

Ask All Sailors on SBO is the most active but there are still a lot of posts that often get missed by the masses on some of the brand forums. Not all brand questions are brand specific..

I read Ask an O'day Owner, then go to the bottom of the page switch to Catalina Owners, view the Catalina 22 forum, then look at Ask All Sailors, and then Trailer Sailors.

I am not interested in reading or viewing every new post. It would be nice to have just the forums I read from several manufacturers in a custom list of forums.

My first stop is always Off Topic/Sails Call to see if there are any new Boat Babe shots :). Then from there on.

Ed, my default page is Hunterowners, which gives me all the Hunter forums, Shared forums, Expert Forums, but does not give me anything from CatalinaOwners, O'Dayowners etc.

When I click the Show posts all forums, it includes all the other sites as well.

You are right of course Scott. I just tested it again and an O'Day post popped up. So when I run out of things to read on HunterOwners then I can find some more to do. Happens a lot now since we just had our first "plowable" snowfall.

I read this forum most of the time on my cell phone. I bookmarked My Custom Panel so I can see any threads I am subscribed to. When I'm done there I check the other bookmark for New Post (5 day) and All Forums. All of this is on one bookmark. This cuts down on the number of drop down menus and clicks. I also receive email notification for private messages and suscribed theads of particular interests. I'm always learning something new here.
Thanks,

I always start with Ask all sailors and that seems to take me a while to digest so I generally dont go elsewhere. This is a great thread for a newbie as it encourages me to think outside the box and look around more. My wife calls me a barge and I call her a butterfly. I am plodding and methodical and she hops all around from attractive flower to attractive flower. Some times it's good to get out of the shipping lanes and bounce around.
Thanks
