I own a 1993 vision 32, I have a 4 foot tear along the headsail uv seam. I want to remove the sail for repair. This is the first season I have owned the boat or any boat for that matter. I'm sure its simple but I am clueless.
Although you can't see it from the deck, there's a jib halyard line holding it up top. Look around the mast and use a process of elimination to find it. To drop, unfurl the jib so it slides down easily. Be sure to secure the halyard clasp somewhere, perhaps on the lifeline, to ensure it doesn't get away from you and go zipping back up the forestay.
...that the jib hallyard runs back to the cockpit. If so, it should be on a clutch, so that, all you need to do is release the clutch, go forward and pull the sail down. Disconnect from the furling unit, and hook up the hallyard to the toe rail, or bowsprit(pull it taught and set the clutch). I have a '94 29.5 and I just love the ease of handling (it is a Hood furling unit). Good luck.
unfortunately a tear by the uv protection may indicate a lack of uv protection. Then again, could be chafe or if your lucky just a seam needs to be restiched. alan
