I am closing on my first sailboat this week, a Hunter 30 1990, and would like your opinion on which products to use to clean, and shine the deck and the process that you use. Thanks for any in-put.Barry
a shine on your deck? Decks usually have anti-skid to help you from slipping when walking on the deck, and are flat colored so the sun doesn't reflect off the deck into your eyes as you are sailing.I repainted the deck of a Hunter 33 once using single part epoxy paint, anti-skid particles, and flattener. The strips of deck outside the anti-skid I used paste wax. Looked great.
You want the hull and cabin sides to shine. The decks, you don't want to be slippery or you'll spend all you time retriving people that fall overboard. You want the decks to grip so you can stand on them. You'll learn.
and the areas outside of the non-skid surface on the deck will respond well to Vertglas. This is a three step treatment, non arduous, than does the best job of any product out there. Read up on the following links:http://www.teamseacats.com/hunter/
that the boat does have non-skid on the deck and I was referring to the areas other than.I have read about using dish soap, 3M compound cleaner,3m restores and a wax, Island Girl Gelcoat Cleaner, Aquabuff, Etc. What works the best? What has your experience been? Thank you for your in-put.
