How do you determine where the cradle pads go on a Hunter 36

I don't want to repeat the mistake I made last year when hauling out the boat and want to ensure I get the boat correctly on the cradle this time. Normally, you would look for where the 'pad bottom-paint shadow' was from the PREVIOUS year to align the hull to the cradle. I can't do that this year so instead, I need to know where the bulwark is...where the hull is strong enough to have the cradle pads rest so as to not 'indent' the hull like I did last year. Does anyone have way to determine where (beside the lift point decals) those bulwarks are for the cradle pads? I have looked through all gazillion pages of the H36 owner manual and found nothing. Thanks.

It would make sense to have the pads on the lift points. After all you want to be lifting where the bulkheads are. The pads aren't supposed to have much weight on them most of the weight is on the keel. I have to readjust my pad height every year because the boat doesn't get lined up perfectly on the cradle.

Pads

When my H-36 was on the hard we used 6 pads and as already mentioned all the weight is suppose to be on the keel and pads are just used to hold the boat up.
if you can put them on the lift decals but than the pads will not be spread out equally.

Putting the cradle pads on the lift points makes sense EXCEPT the boat is being lifted already by the travellift's straps when it is setting the boat down on the cradle so those spots are already taken up by the slings.

Yes that's true. When we've had that happen we let the boat down onto the cradle then back off the pads to pull the straps out from underneath.

I use six movable stanchions with pads and put them on new places every year. Makes it easier to ensure the bottom will be painted all over. Have done this for 8 years without problem as well as stepping the mast. The weight is on the keel and the pads only to keep the boat upright. Dont tighten up the pads until the boat is standing on its keel
