O'day 30 313 Georgetown MD
So after a month of frantic work on my precious days off from my full time job, I finally splashed my 30 O'Day. Now the rest of the work begins. I took the sail off to take it home in preparation to wash and inspect, I noticed a number. 313. Is this my production number?

As Ron suggests, the sail number May or may not be the hull number. The definitive hull number is encoded in the Hull Identification Number, printed on the upper right of the transom. Reading that HIN from the right, the last 2 digits are the model year. The next to characters (letter and number) are the month and year of manufacture. The next 3 digits over are the hull number. For example, XDYnn333A585 would be hull number 333, made in January of 1985, as a 1985 model.

(Edited to correct typo in example HIN)

Is that a typo or am I missing something? #333?
I think, if there was more than one production plant, there may be another letter or number to indicate which plant she was built at. I think, O'Day had a couple of factories around the late 70s and early 80s.

I think he means 333 in the example, particularly since O'Day 30 hull numbers only went through about 350 or so before they were modified to the O'Day 31 in 1984/1985. The 313 is probably the hull number of the OP's 1983 model but checking on the transom as Davidsailor26 suggests will confirm that.

Yeah, sorry, typo in my example. The hull number would be 333 based on the fictional HIN I wrote. I don't think O'Day distinguished between production locations in their HIN's although I can't find the decoder that I was able to find in the past.
