I was wondering if you can tell me what name brand of head that I have. I was hoping to change out all the seals and rubber gaskets, but before I do I guess I should have an idea what type (name brand) of head that it is. I looked all ove the dern thing and I have found no indication. My boat id a 1986 Hunter 28.5 and I believe this is the original head. Thank you, people like you make dealing with the crapper a little easier to take.

need more info

Post a photo on this site or give a better description of the head. My '87 28.5 came with a Wilcox-Crittenden Head Mate, but that doesn't mean yours is. Does it have a T-handle on the lift pump? Does it have a little black plastic nut that seals the pump shaft? Does the L-shaped lever for wet/dry bowl have a red vinyl tip on it? Does it have 3 flanges for hold down bolts? If yes to all the above, it's probably a WC Head Mate, which is still available.

Use catalog for visual match

Ben, I also have a 1987 28.5, & it, too, has a WC head. Why don't you take a catalog like West Marine to the boat, and try to do a picture match? Eric Lorgus s/v Explorer 87H285

I wouldn't bother to rebuild a 15 yr old toilet

The average life of any manual marine toilet that costs less than $200 is about 5-7 years. After 15 years, the pump cylinder is so worn that a rebuild kit will help some, but it won't return the performance to original specs...and it's highly likely that hardware parts will start to fail. You can replace it with a comparable new one for about twice the price of a rebuild kit...and that's what I recommend you do.
