A great weekend on SF Bay
We started out by using our Catalina 30,"Tule Frog", as a hotel room Friday night with dinner at the Richmond Yacht Club prior to spending a "touristy" Saturday in San Francisco. Spent Saturday night on the hook in SF Bay off Tiburon near Angel Island, followed by a leisurly Sunday morning at Angel Island, then had a wonderful afternoon sail on the Bay cruising Sausalito, the Golden Gate and the "City Front". After returning to the Richmond Yacht Club Sunday evening we ate dinner out in Point Richmond, spent the night at the dock and came home Monday morning. All in all, a varied and great weekend with my wife, daughter and son-in-law. We normally sail out of Stockton in the California Delta but have our boat at the Richmond Yacht Club for a couple of months to enjoy the Bay and the "airconditioning" while the temp is in the 90s and 100s at home.

Taught someone how-to sail...
I took my friend out sailing for the first time. He grew up around power boats but he adapted well to sail. That "tiller" thing took a little getting used to but we had a great time even though the wind was blowing so hard nobody had a jib up! It was so funny, he turned the radio off so he could "hear going through the water without an engine." I guess I just took it all for granted....

Survived! Stayed alive.
Had a nice sail for about 30 minutes on Sat when a thunder storm up in Oklahoma provided for high clouds and a 15 knot breeze. Otherwise, 111 degrees, fluky winds - we anchored and stayed in the water or in the shade. It was too hot at the dock to party. That's the one advantage those power boats have! Covered docks!

Pleasant Harbor to Oak Harbor
Ok, so it wasn't "my" boat but we took Rob's boat from Pleasant Harbor to Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island for the Westsail Rendezvous. Nope, he doesn't own a Westsail but we thought we'd crash it anyway. Had loads of fun and the weather was fine! Surprisingly great sailing to boot! LaDonna

Swim platform
I took my twin Grandchildren out for the weekend. That means swim except while sleeping or eating. Well, we did get a little sailing in. While they were asleep, I hauled anchor and took advantage of a nice 10 Kn. breeze. It was a wonderful weekend. Keep your beam to the wind. Happy sailing. John

Steady Sept. Winds on a Mountain Lake
I have not been sailing long, but, oh, I do love the sport. A friend who has sailed since '79 and I purchased a 22 this spring and put it in the lake in early June. We have sailed most weekends, traveling 3 hours to do so and amid dead calm, swirling winds, and sudden storms always I was told wait until September that is our best sailing month. And indeed, if the rest of the month lives up to the Labor Day weekend, it shall be. Good steady winds, a responsive boat, and a sailing companion who patiently increases my knowledge each time we sail, and impressive mountain scenery; is there a better way to spend a long weekend. I don't think so.

Short Cruise
We took a short cruise in our C30 in the San Fransico Bay Area. We spent the night on the boat at the slip in Alameda and the next day went to Vallejo Marina. We spent two nights ther. On Sunday we sailed through the Carquinez Straits and anhored for lunch next to the "Mothball Fleet" - about 30 or so Navy vessels that appear to be left around to rust. Monday we sailed back to Alameda. We totaled just over 90 nautical miles for the weekend. Winds varied from calm to about 25kts. My 3 and 6 year old girls really enjoyed the trip too!

San Francisco C-30 Fleet I Cruise
Fleet I completed a 9 day Blue Water Cruise south to Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Carmel Bay, arriving back in SF Bay on Sunday. This is almost a yearly event for Fleet I that a number of sailors look for to. This year 5 boats participated with only one day of over 20k winds, no dense fog, and a lot of fun.
