to the wind is close for the average sail boat? Lets say a 28' with a fin keel and then a 28' with a shoal draft; how close can we get to the wind, in degrees, with these boats. Both of these boats the corect have the shroud and stay tenison and sails that are in good condition, meaning a new main and a 3 year old jib. I,am really getting confused on this.

The one with the portapottie will point closer. The through hulls on the other boat cause added drag. Are you sure you are in the right forum?
