I am interested in knowing if any boat owners have found a means to lock the Anchor locker and seat locker. I would like to have these two locked in an unsecure area.

Hasps abound

Vic: If you have the W/M master catalog, on page 558 there are some hasps that should work fine on your anchor locker. For you seat lockers there are lockable hold down clamps on page 562 item 'D'. Just remember anyone that really wants to get into your boat will be in there almost as fast as you can with your key. Just a little pry bar and the compartments are open. When you lock them, some think that there is something special to steal.

Locks keep the

honest people out. I have always beleived that I would rather have someone walk into my boat rather than do major damage just to get in. The marine police have told me that one of the most common reasons for a boat to be broken into is kids looking for booze!

Inside Job & dowel job

You find some of the theft is inside job by part time marina help-they'll know where the key is hidden anyway. I did see another inside job in "Sail" or "Cruising World". On some lockers you can place an eye fitting inside the locker so that a dowel pin from inside the cabin runs through the eye and locks it up-thus you must enter the cabin to "undowel it".
