i recently purchased a 1974 catalina 27 with a head whose pump handle is totally round, not a long narrow handle like i've seen on other heads. the ones i've seen with the round handle appear to be manufactured by groco. there is no marking but i know they have made several models. how do i identify one model from the others? harris gottlieb

Harris, I have a schematic of the Groco HF (round knob). Email me thru HOW Owner's Forum and I'll scan the schematic for you to compare. If that's the correct one, see the post from yesterday for rebuild kits from Mickey Goodman.

My guess is, on that boat...

It's hard to say from just the handle on the pump what make/model a toilet is...replacement knobs and tee handles are interchangeable and often need replacing. However, if it is a Groco and it's not obsolete, it's an HF model. The predecessors to the HF were the HC and the HE...so unless it looks exactly like the HF models shown in the marine catalogs, it may be obsolete ...no parts are available for it any longer except an "upgrade kit" which will cost you as much or more than a new head. Compare everything about your head to what you see in the catalogs from all the mfrs...you should be able to figure out what it is by doing that. If not, e-mail me directly and I"ll try to help you figure it out. peghall@bellsouth.net
