Dear Dog lovers I just bought a used Hunter 30. We have a large Dog and I have no idea how to bring him from the yacht into the Dinghy or vice versa. He will be wearing a PFD. I need to create something which does not scratches the gelcoat, has to be safe and be functional in most weatherconditions. Has anyone any good idea? Thank you for your reply Andy

Stern Ladder

We have a slightly sloping stern ladder on our 28.5 and a sloping transom, so we just tie the Achiles tight across the stern, to both stern cleats and carry our 85# Labs into the dingy. Going up, they need an assist, as we lift them using a strong harness in addition to the typical Doggie Life Vest. When I take them in for a swim, I stand on the lower rungs of the ladder, call them to me and jump in with them in my arms. Our biggest concern is them catching a fore leg undeer a ladder rung, or having them leap off the deck themselves if we are in the water without them. Neither event has happend in 10-15 seasons we've had dogs on the boat.

I have a black 90 pound Lab that I

just lift him onto the boat thru the side life lines. The only problem is his shedding of dog hair..Good luck with your new boat..

Large Dog

Thank you for your response I think that I might create a 5 or 6 ft piece of wood which I put over a fender to protect the gelcoat and tie down at the reeling on one side and put a large fender on the lower side. I thought to create some kind of an halyard from the dirk to the lower end of the wood. This should give me the ability to raise and lower the angel of the entry for our large dog. What do you think? Cheers Andy
