I had installed a new Johnson pressure pump and a 2 liter accumulator, but still wasn't happy. I contacted Johnson's tech support guy and he very kindly offered to visit my boat when he was next in the area. He did this last week and the findings were interesting. I now have the best pressure and consistency I have ever had and all because my system wasn't adjusted correctly. On the Johnson pumps the pressure is easily adjusted using a 2mm allan key ( see attached service bulletin). The pressure in the accumulator is also very important ( see other attached Johnson service bulletin)- it needs to be half the cut off pressure of the pump- with this all correctly set now- i have an amazing system!
