I have a 2005 hunter 33. has anyone installed a house battery using 6 volt golf cart batteries as the power source? How did you mount them? Area under seat seems small. Thanks, Darryl

Best Battery change I ever made

I used these golf cart batteries on my Cheoy Lee Clipper 33 and it was great. I never had to replace any over a six year period and alway had more power than I ever needed. I was a liveaboard and had TV etc and had 6 of these batterys. For a cruiser/liveraboard it is the only way to go. Hope you have room for them. I used the Trojan brand and they are excellent.

House Battery for H33

I added golf cart batteries to my 2004 H33 (from Sams club). The boat came with two #24 12V batteries. I was able to fit two golf cart batteries also. I wired such that I had 3 banks: House (golf cart batteries); Start (one of the existing 12v batteries); and an 'extra' bank, utilizing the other 12v battery. The battery charger has 3 outputs, so each is charged independently from shore power. I discarded the existing 1-2-all switch, and added on/of switches for each of the banks, and one to parallel the 'extra' bank to the house if needed. Michael

Thanks Micheal

Thanks for your reply. Where did you mount the 6V batteries? Also, where did you get the battery boxes for the 6V's? Thanks, Darryl

Just put in 2 six volt golf cart batteries

bought my at a place called Battery Bill in Sacramento. They had a very substantial box that was made for 2 batteries. I remove one of my old group 27 batteries and put the new box in the cockpit locker. Someday I'll build supports and move to the bilge.

RE: Where did you mount batteries

Attached is a picture of where I mounted the batteries. I did not use a battery box - not enough room. I did utilize hold down straps, etc., which were not hooked up at time of picture. Michael
