I have a 2006 Hunter 45 Center Cockpit, which originally came with two 4D House Batteries. I want to add two more, somewhere near where the original ones are located, port side, under the front end of the main salon table. If any other 45 CC owners have undertaken this task, I would appreciate any advice, and photo's if available. I think there is sufficient room to accomidate the two additional batteries.

Thanks,
Jeff

Not sure what your space looks like but gel cell batteries can be stored in any position making it much easier to store and stack them. They have other advantages also.

What About

Well you could just measure to see if they fit and because they will be different new and older split the banks into two seperate banks.
If you need to use as suggested AGM's check your charging setup.

Charging

My 2007 H-36 has two 4 D's that switch to seperate them so to use one at a time but I set them up to one big house bank and than added a start battery,I think you might have same setup so if you have room just keep the new and old banks seperate into two house banks.

Jeff,

As Nick says, if they fit, and you really want to double your Amp-Hr capacity,..
"just do it".
Personally, I'm in the camp that believes that more power generation capacity is better than more power storage capacity.
IMHO, 2 (AGM) 4Ds... supported by a high output engine alternator, a gen set, and solar panels is more versatile than, 4 (whatever) 4Ds .. supported by lessor means of recharging them.
And (again IMHO) if you have the aforementioned charging capability, why do you need more battery storage capacity?
