Can anyone advise me on how best to wire in an hour meter? I purchased a used Hunter 30 and the hour meter was disconnected and i'm not sure where the wires should connect. Thanks in advance.
find the hot and ground wires off the ignition switch and wire it in parallel with the switch such that power is applied only when the switch is on. There are other options but this is usually the easiest.
requirements, right? Most boats don't even have them! And of those that do, so many have broken and are ignored. I sure hope it never gets to the condition where the government starts getting into that. I can understand it for cars, but boats? C'mon...
we should mandate new legislation, besisde who would stoop so low and purposely disconnect their hour meter for the purpose of misrepresenting the hours run on a boat motor when they attempt to sell it.
I installed on last year on our HV'36. We found a circuit in the ignition that we hot when the key was on. Then just ran a wire from their down to where we wanted the meter (down below). Drilled the hole for the meter and grounded it to the engine.
