I have a 1987 Catalina30 with an tachometer that has an hour meter. The tach works fine, but the hour meter stopped working. The last digit (1/100th) "clicks" every 36 seconds, but doesn't advance to the next digit. Do y'all think it's a sticking/bad gear that can be repaired, or is replacement necessary? Thanks much!!!

Someone tried to roll it back. I have repaired many automotive odometers from older cars and they were just fairly simple mechanisms that had a set of gears. unfortunately, once the gears get broken(usually from being forced) there is not much left to do but replace the unit. Tim R.

Hi JP - I had the same problem on my Yanmar engine. They want something like $200 for the replacement analog hour meter! I decided to install a $25 LCD panel meter instead - works fine. Best of luck, Trevor
