I had a small leak in one of the hoses going to or from my hot water tank (engine connections). I trimmed back the hose and re-clamped. In my rush I might have reversed the hoses. I noticed that there was no markings on the water heater as to in or out. Am I going to have a problem? I guess once I get into the water and have no hot water I will find out, but I wanted to make sure before I splashed.

The water will still flow.

The water flow from the engine is supplied by the engine's water pump, thus it will flow either direction and still heat the water in the tank. The problem if there is one could come from air locks in the system and reversed hosed might cause that to happen. If the tank works, and it probably will, then all is well. If not then reverse the lines. Now the real problem! If one end of the hose was faulted, then the whole hose is suspect. You should really replace them rather than shorten up and wait for the next bullet. Happy showers, Ray
