Ted: Here is a link to your exact problem. The replacement is made by Ariston (maybe others available) http://archive.sailboatowners.com/archive/archivepview.tpl?SKU=2001002092528.20&forumabr=cd&fno=18&&_ptitle=ptitle%20rtitle&_psamp=psamp&&model=30_74-83&forum=none&andor=wa&keyword=%20water%20heater&pr=p,r&ssite=HOW&srt=pdate&start=2&max=20

Heater Problem

Hi: I removed my heater earlier this year because it was rusting away. I removed thru the starboard cockpit hatch by removing the outcase then the inner water tank will fit thru. I haven't put another one in yet, I've measured all the openings and unless you remove the rudder post and bring it around thru the stern you won't put a new one in. I've looked around and Menards carries a 3 gallon but 110v AC. Unless you find a better solution this might be the answer. Bob

It's easy!

I replaced the water heater in my 1980 Hunter 30 some years ago. Mine was located in the starboard cockpit lazarette. Look in the West Marine or Boat/US catalogs for any of the 6 gallon models. Any should fit, but measure to make sure. The installation is easy and you may leave off the hose connections to the engine if you prefer. My engine (Yanmar 2QM15) is fresh water cooled and does not really get hot enough to heat the water. Besides, we don't cruise far enough from marinas and electricity.
