I have a hot water heater that runs off a ysb 12. No mater how long this runs, it does not produce any hot water. The electric is not used since I am on a mooring. Anyone have any ideas how to make this work?

Do not think it is hooked to the engine!

Bob: I do not think that these water heaters were hooked to the engine. There is no heat exchanger (unless yours was retrofitted) so there is not much chance to heat water. These engines do not get very warm even when you run them hard. I think your best bet on a mooring is to go with some type of solar heated water.

hot water

Steve is correct in that it must be connected to the engine hot water,if it is then the engine must be hot before it can heat the hot water so (not sure how the cooling system works on that engine)maybe a thermostat is bad or if it is raw water cooled engine sometimes these just won't develop the heat (especialy at idle with no load) to heat water very much. This type of heater works very well and is capable of makeing lots of hot water when working correctly,if in fact you have the hot water exchange with the engine

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the replies. I guess a cold shower is better than no shower. The previous owner was at a dock so he was able to use the electric side of the heater.
