Hot Water Heater

The hot water heater does not work when connected to shore power.
The breaker at the main AC panel is on.
I has access to the front of the heater and could not find any type of reset button.
The heater does work with the exchanger while the engine is running.
I have not yet checked the circuit with a volt/ohm meter, but that will be the next step.
I was hoping to find a reset button on the unit.
Thanks for any help.

Even home heating elements fail. You need to check yours for an open to see if it has failed.

I have a Raritan 1700 on our B-400. There is a reset button under the side cover, POWER OFF First! Pull back the insulation and slide your finger down from the top.
Push in the reset, if you hear a click, you may be needing a new element soon. I found our PDF manual on there web site. You can get the elements for$36 at Defender.

I am having the same problem with mine. The element is good but leaning towards a failed thermostat. Can they be replaced ? And if so where ? I live in Canada

My first boat had a seaward 6 gal HW heater that stopped working on shore power. I traced the power to the WH first, but did not have power at the terminals on the element. There was a reset switch between the top terminals and the element. It was bad (would not reset) and had to be replaced.

My current boat has an Atwood heater. It uses a different style temperature limiting switch, but also replaceable if necessary.

You can also check the resistance across the element terminals (make sure power is off) to see if the element is bad.
