The Kuuma 6 gallon water heater has a leak and likely needs to be replaced. The unit is 10 years old. (Apparently the PO changed it out after 5 years.) Kuuma brands run about $275 and similar models from Seaward Marine run about $475. Anyone have any experience with this and good explanation for price difference? I can not find out what was OEM equipment in 2005. Thanks!

I just replaced the Whale S600 6 gal. water heater (original, I believe) on my '99 H410, and sourced a new Whale S600 from Amazon for $331.98 .

the Kuuma is rebranded by West marine...We put one in about 2010 and it's worked really well; was asked to check out a her sistership for a water leak just before our 2 week flotilla and found the tank had failed, told him they usually only last about 8 years. As I walked down the dock, I had an Oh Sh*&*t moment - both of our boats were built the same day - sure enough, Escape's was leaking too. We installed 2 Kuumas the next day
