I have a hot water heater in my boat that is being held together by rust. I haven't got it out of the boat yet, but it doesn't look like a fun job. The previous owner gave me a brand new one with the boat that is a small (2 gal) household unit (120V). My question is, should I use this unit or should I buy one that heats from running the engine and 120V? We will mostly be in a slip with shorepower when using, and don't motor for long periods of time. we sail! Thanks, Dave

Why waste the effort.

If you like the boat and don't want to repeat the process again, buy and install a marine unit. Shortcuts only cost more in the long run. Stainless would be nice.

Yes and No .. JC

JC, Yes from Home Depot, but no, it does not heat from the engine, only shore power. You must realize that this is the standard for Hunter in 1982, mine being a 33, it never did heat from the engine, the 2GM-15 is fresh water cooled. I ask a couple of experts about converting, they told me to wear out my current engine and incorporate that feature when I repower. Sorry if I confused anyone.
