Hi again from the unseasonably cool Salish Sea,
I have completed the replumbing of the entire potable water system on our '92 Catalina28 and now I want to install a tempering valve on the hot water outlet on the Seaward 6 gal. water heater.
I am looking for any advice on the configuration and installation.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Tempering valve

Stu, thanks for this - it is intersting to see that there is still alot of discussion that mixes the subjects of water temperature in the engine and the temperature of the water from the water heater.
Because we cruise with young grandchildren I am very concerned with the potential for scalding from too hot tap water. I too am amazed that something like this that is mandated by building regulations in both our countries is not yet even a suggested standard in the boating industry.
My research into the Watts tempering valve leads me to look at the low temperature model (L70A) but in reading the installation instructions I see that this valve "must be TRAPPED at least 8" to 12" ". Any ideas on what this about?
If this offset distance must be maintained then it would appear that I will have to build a pretty fancy looking plumbing configuration accross the face of the water tank.
It sur would be nice to see what others have done so far.
Thanks again for the quick reply.
Cheers,
Bill
