I added a Raritan 6 gal dual source hot water heater, 120 VAC and coolant from 2QM15 engine. I converted the raw water cooled 2QM15 system to a closed loop fresh water/antifreeze cooled system using a SENDURE heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is located in the sail locker on the bulkhead behind the head and above the hot water heater and engine. The system has been in operation for over fifteen years with good results.

The details of the conversion of the 2QM15 raw water cooling system to a closed loop system will take me a few weeks since the boat is out of the water for the winter. I plan to go to the boat in the next couple of weeks and can check on the details (parts, model numbers) and snap a couple of pictures showing the installation.

Converting Seawater cooled to Fresh Water Cooled

After market kits are available. My engine was done years ago it looks like... (2QM20) A new pump was added to the engine - Jabsco. A bracket was bolted onto the block to hold the new pump in line with the fan belt. A larger belt was added that now turns both the alternator and the new pump. An after-market heat exchanger was bolted to the side of the engine compartment. everything was plumbed. The old pump became the fresh water pump and the system was filled with anti-freeze/coolant. The new Jabsco pump is the seawater pump. Where the system used to pump water out the block and into the exhaust, that now sends hot water to the water heater and then back to the heat exchanger and then back to the old seawater intake. The new seawater pump goes to the other side of the heat exchanger and then into the mixing elbow. Sendure and Vetus I think both made kits. They are probably still available special order.

Don't think those units are available any longer.

I believe that those heat exchanger units (SENDURE) have been discontinued and are no longer available. There may be some other type of unit available.
