Over on the Cherubini forum("Chickened out") I told the folks about my H37C holding tank project. Yes Peggy, I did order the Ronco. But it will be so far from the head that I am wondering if I should spend for the "good" hose. Or should I just replace the West Marine stuff every few years? The only source that I find for SEALAND wants $9. a foot and only sells in 5 foot increments. I'll probably need over 15 feet to do both inlet and outlet. That's more $$$ than either the tank or the Cricket! Is SEALAND really that much better?

Yes...it is, Ed

6-8' is about the max distance (total hose length) from the head that any tank should be, because that's as far as anyone will pump the head long enough to move the bowl contents. Any further just about guarantees standing waste will be left in the hose. Waste also sits in the tank discharge hose...the longer and more horizontal that hose, the more of it stays full of waste. So if you need more than 6' of hose to connect your head to the tank, SeaLand OdorSafe is the ONLY hose to use. Anything else, and you'll be replacing permeated hoses every 2-3 years.

Thanx Peggy, I will. . . .

probably ante up then. The discharge will be about 6 foot and very vertical since this tank has a top discharge with a standpipe. The inlet will be longer but still pretty much downhill after it gets over the vented-loop. Our practice has been to just use a couple of pumps during the day and then a half-gallon of fresh water when we put her to bed. Still use Sealand?

I'd still go with SeaLand Odorsafe...

When you consider the the total cost of this project, not to mention the value of the time and effort you'll invest in it, you're only looking at about $50 more to use "bullet proof" hose vs. the price of hose that may or may not permeate in a few years. Put into context, that's cheap insurance.
