Hi Peggy, I skulk your forum a lot, and about a month or two ago you recommended a brand of hose, and as I recall your words were that it is a bit more expensive, but it was guaranteed to not let smell permeate for 10 or 20 years. I searched for that thread, but did not find it. Can you repeat that advice/hose brand? I am looking to replace the hose from my head to my holding tank this winter and want to get some of that. If there is a SBO link, that is even better. Thanks Ray

I didn't say it was guaranteed for 10-20 years...it's not.

Trident 101 Trident Marine: Sanitation Hose is warrantied against odor permeation for 5 years. However, it's been on the market for nearly 20 years without a single reported odor permeation failure at any age. But that doesn't mean you can expect it to last 20 years. After about 10 years, all hoses--water, exhaust, fuel, bilge, sanitation-- become hard and brittle, prone to cracking and so should be replaced.

Btw...you really do need to train your search engine, 'cuz I'd guess that I've recommended Trident sanitation hose 50 times in last couple of years...and also included THIS advice:

If you're gonna replace one section of sanitation hose, replace ALL of 'em, 'cuz any sections that may not need replacing now, will. At least 50% of the job is prep...so why do half the job over and over to replace one secction at a time. Replace ALL the hose at once, you're done for 10 years.
