Horsepower at the prop???

I have been having a discussion with a fellow boater who has a 51Hp perkins. He swears that he gets about 47hp at the prop. I say it is much, much less after spinning an alternator, transmission, and all the other stuff? any experts have a ballpark percentage of power at the prop on an inboard diesel?
