Have a 2004 Hunter 33 with In-Mast furler. Noticed I have a few horizontal wrinkles about a quarter way above the boom. The wrinkles are maybe 1 - 2 feet long. I have a Rigid Vang, which is tensioned. I ease the outhaul, but they don't disappear. Any suggestions aside from getting a non-furling mast? :)

Couple of things you can try......

First, try to furl when on Starboard tack. This will allow the sail to be pulled around the furling rod in the mast instead of being drawn into the mast, then around the furling rod. Halyard tension will effect how the sail furls, as will outhaul tension, and vang tension. Having said all of that, I still get wrinkles in my sail occasionally, and i have not figured out the fool proof combination of all of the above. Jeff

Wrinkles

As a rule, apply tension perpendicular to the wrinkle to flatten it. Sounds like halyard tension would help here. Maybe easing the outhaul a bit first would enhance your effort.
