Has anyone had any first hand experience with Horizon Yacht Charters? I know they don't charter Hunters but I wanna look at a Bavaria and see this saildrive gizmo first hand!

Loved Horizon

Our family of 4 chartered a Bavaria 36 with Horizon last spring - 1st time BVI. We liked the fact that Horizon is small and personal, and away from the bustle of Tortola (in Nanny Cay). We loved the brand new Bavaria 36 3 cabin. She was comfortable, easy to manage (I know 'cause I had to step around my lounging crew to sail her!) and fast.

Please tell more. Is the Bavaria really fast like they say? Like would it leave the Hunter 376 in the wake? Sounds like you had to swingle hand a bit. Its easy to do that on a backstayless Hunter, how was it for you?

The Bavaria is fast. The comparison applies to similar cruisers. I understand that Durlee Deane, the 36 we chartered, took firsts and seconds last year in her local BVI regattas. Can't tell you much about the Hunter, though. Single handing was pretty easy - all lines are lead aft to the cockpit in an organized fashion. My crew (wife & daughters) had no complaints about being overworked!
