On the back of my knot meter there is a terminal that says light. Is there a light in the knot meter? If there is where is the ground? Can someone help me out? Thanks Jason (H23 Slapshot)

Most likely any mounting

screws or brackets would go to ground.

Make of the meter

The knot meter is a SR Mariner made by SR Instruments. The boat is fiberglass so I can't ground it to the case. Do I run a ground from the case to the battery or where? Can someone help please? Thanks Jason

electrical or mechanical?

IS this an electronic knot unit or a manual one? Does it have wires that go to a sending unit or a gear driven cable? If it is electrical, the lamp probably uses the same ground that supplies power to the unit. If it is mechanical, you will need to find the lamp installation and see where the grounded part of the socket (the outside metal part that surrounds the lamp base) is wired. good luck Bill Murray

ground back to the battery

Yes, you have to run a wire from the grounding part of the indicator back to the battery or catch an other 12 volt grounding wire near by. Jeff Peltier
