Hi, I have a continuous line furler below-deck on my boat and it is incredibly stiff. (I imagine I will have to replace in a couple of years). In the meantime do ay of you have any pointers on how/where/and with what it should be lubricated? It doesn't make a lot of sense that it is so difficult to furl.

Additionally one of the foils has a piece cracked off and I cant seem to find any sort of replacement online (let alone how to even replace it). If any of you are replacing your existing one let me know and obviously for the right price I will buy your old one - heck it might be overall in better shape than mine.

Thanks

Did you fix this while it was attached? Or do I have to have the mast down?

Also looks like the foil that is broken is riveted together at the joint with the next one. Am I mistaken - is that something that can be replaced or is the whole thing to be taken down.

Didn't see foils on pompanette

Yes, I fixed the centering clamp with the furler still attached but did remove the sail. I suspect the headstay jas to be removed at the stem and broken foil would have to come off in order to replace it. Call or email Pomanette, they may be able to help you find a foil. A local rigger might have a source, too.

I had a connector between two foils break on my Harken furler on a Hunter 23. I had to cut the stay to remove the foils, and (on mine) the foils are connected to the connectors with small setscrews. These are cemented in with Loctite red (or at least were if it was assembled per the instructions). I was able to loosen them by heating with a standard propane torch.
