Can anyone tell me what model of Hood Seafurl the 1995 - 40.5 has installed, Model 700/800/900 SL? Having problems with the furler and broke the last extrusion at the base connecting with the drum.

Thanks sail sfbay, I have the manual and have checked the specs regarding measurements on the various models from 700 to 900 but my measurements don't match. Figured another 40.5 owner might have the specific model number.

Found the answer to my question after much measurement and contacting Pompanette Hood Furlers in Florida. Simple answer you have a Model 900 SL Seafurl and we're sorry to inform you that we no longer have parts for this model. Season Over as of now.

Sad to hear you sailing season has come to an end for the season.
Binnacle Marine appears to have furlers in stock. Maybe you could still get some weeks in with the temps still in the 60's.
A competent rigger should be able to get you a new furler install quickly. But, the rig has to come down. Yes,,, it’s possible to do it with rig up, but very risky, and you won’t save any money doing it that way

Got the bottom foil from a PO of the boat two back from me. It came to me in a round about way and had a slight kink in it which I had repaired at a local machine shop by a very ingenious and very competent machinist. I got the damaged pieces off the boat when she went into the shed at Eastport, Maine for winter storage and have dismantled everything and rebuilt and cleaned up all the affected pieces. Hopefully everything goes back together in the spring and our troubles are over. Side Bar Here: All the problems were originally caused by the "Centering Clamp" that mounts under the drum in the lower barrel of the furler on the forestay. It had come loose and was tilted on the turnbuckle thus causing the hard furl, unfurl. I had checked everything else but had forgotten completely about this part. Old age may have contributed to my problems.

Often it is the little things that cause our frustration. Good to hear you found a cause and a solution. There is next year to look forward to.
