Late last summer I bought a cat22 with a 7.5 honda outboard. The motor has either a generator or an altenator. It is putting out 13 volts at idle. My question is this. Does the motor have a built in voltage regulator on it so it won't overcharge the battery? Also, what kind of battery will give the best service? I'm ready for an overnighter and this is all I need to set up and I'm gone. Thanks

Vernon; When I had my C-22 with a Honda 7.5, I used a Die-Hard because at that time I'd never heard of deep-cycle batteries. Now I would go with a group 27 deep-cycle or combo and since you don't have to worry about engine starting, you can deplete the battery down to 50%. Be advised, though, that the alternator on that Honda won't recharge that battery very fast since it only puts out about 3-5 amps at best. Consider a solar panel, but know that you will be running the battery at a deficit and it will only be fully charged by a charger at the dock, but it will give you 1-3 nights, depending on usage.
