Honda fuel line disconnect

I have a Honda BF75 7.5hp four stroke CDI motor from the 80s on my Catalina 22. The 3 gallon fuel tank and the fuel line are also OEM Honda. I recently experienced some stalling issues for the first time so I have decided to try to nail down the issue, starting with replacing the probably 35ish year old fuel line. I am unable to source a direct OEM replacement so I am looking at getting a Mercury Quicksilver fuel line assembly with the motor end disconnect installed and then finding a new fuel tank side disconnect to install since the Mercury assembly doesn't have an option that is compatible with my tank. The trouble now is that I can't seem to find the disconnect that I need in 5/16 size. Should I modify my Honda tank by installing something like the Atwood sprayless disconnect or is there a better option?

I thought that was it when I found it the other day but when I looked at the list of supported engines it lists only 5hp and 8hp models. My engine is not listed. I don't want to take a risk on an $80 piece of rubber and then hassle with a return if it's not right. I suppose I'd be no worse off though than getting the Mercury one and modding it to fit.

Engine companies try to make parts as standard as possible. It will probably fit, however, give Defender a call and ask.
