We have the above motor on our Hughes 25. She displaces approx 3500#. Fuller underbody, not a fin keel nor a full keel. I have never been able to motor faster than 4 kts. It has the standard 3 blade prop. Wondering if anyone has this motor and has swapped on a different prop for more thrust? Thanks David

Re-Honda BF75 prop question

I also run a Honda BF75 on my Macgregor 26D, and it still has the standard prop that came on the motor ... not sure about the dia. or pitch on it ill check next time we go down to the boat, but the weights of the two boats are close to the same and I can reach hull speed (6.5 knots) at about half throtle. Ill be back in touch with you when i check out the dia. and pitch of my prop.

honda props

I also have a honda 7.5 however it is on a 12' fiberglass skiff. I installed a 91/4 x 7 prop because it was overproped with the original prop. It did the trick as far as getting the engine up to correct speed. It will not make the boat go faster unless you are proped wrong now. At any rate the Honda shop manual calls for a original prop of 9 1/2 x 8 3/4. it also gives 3 optional prop sizes depending on weigth you are trying to move. As per honda specs: light load 9x10 medium load 9x8 and heavy load 91/4x7 these are all 3 blade props.Something to keep in mind "more thrust" will not translate into more boat speed. the real question here is the engine operating at the mfg's rated rpm. Should be 5200 rpm at wide open throttle.(honda spec)Hope this has been helpful ! Good Luck !

BF75 prop

I have a Honda BF75 long shaft with a 9.250 x 7 three blade prop. It is from Michigan Wheel & their part # is 012102. Pushes my catalina 25 just fine.
